Keep blowing the Acc fuse

RE: Keep blowing the Acc fuse
But what he recommended was to unplug the harness before it got to the fender. If you had done this, the fuse would have stopped blowing, therefore you would have known from the start where the problem was. And you wouldn't have had to take your controls apart.
Unplug the rear fender harness right there at back of battery box on the fender.
See if fuse still blows.
Anyway, congrats on fixing your problem. Have fun at BW

right the harness is under the fender, But unless the street glide
is different than the other baggers, the harness connector is under the seat.
So is it, tell me so I will know for future reference.
Behind the battery box mount laying on top of the fender.
And if that is the case, then pulling the seat and disconnecting
the fender harness there, would of been easier than pulling the fairing off.
Wouldn't it?
But like I said, wasn't trying to be a told you so or a smart a$$.
I was just using the easiest approach in my first post (I believe it was).
But regardless glad you found it and was able to repair it.
Will as I said be keeping a watch on mine. I got quite a bit of clearance on
mine though.

well the wire harness is not under the seat, it is under the fender, no just looking at the harness.
The flow of trouble shooting is exaclty what went on. took the seat off looked for aux wires if they were in the circuit. next most common problem pinched cables in the controls which their was pinched wires from the factory on three SGs I have laid my hands on. So i figured that was the proble and removed the fairing to eliminate them out of the harness along with the cig lighter.
all the problems i listed are easy and common problems.. you pick where you start at.

Not trying to be a smart a$$ but.
Or an I told you so.
But most problems are usually something easy went wrong.
Look at trouble shooting flow charts. They start with easiest and most likley
and go down to the hardest.
In your case I would presume pulling the fairing was more of a bitch than
pulling the seat and checking the rear fender harness as I suggested earlier.
But I guess we all live and learn and we can all learn something new.
But glad you did find it.
Haven't had the rubbing issue on my bikes (01 fltri, 01flhtci,01flhrpi,06flhtci)
But i am watching it. Might do what you did, locate it outside the fender.

RE: Keep blowing the Acc fuse
2003 Dyna Wideglide
My rear tyre has just worn clean through the second wiring loom under the fender. 1st time I had dropped suspension, lights shorted, smell of burning and eventually I heard crackling under the fender so it was easy to find the molten mess.
Changed suspension back to standard. Reckon I only weigh about 165. New harness. All OK for a year then one by one the electrics go out as the rear tyre chews through the second loom. This time I see bare wires hanging out under the fender. Unimpressed but thankful that the circuit is isolated from ignition so I can still get around.
OK so what next? I reckon forget the standard set up and get a side mount lite/plates then remove most of the electrics. Shocks must be a bit soft to travel that far but the ride is OK. See if I can get a piccie of the shredded article.

Some pictures of the offending article....plus the route taken under the fender and the connection to the main harness
