Default Dunlop 2nd Generation American Elite

I've heard that Dunlop has come out with a 2nd generation American Elite tire for the late model baggers. Does anyone know what the difference is between that and the old American Elite ? Also when purchasing a 2nd generation tire, how do you know that it is indeed a 2nd generation ? tread pattern, marking on the sidewall etc.
Thanks In Advance Jonnierock

i think the 2nd generation has a longer wearing center tread and softer side tread for turns...it has been out for a while now. i would think that any high volume tire seller-such as jake wilson, dennis kirk, motorcycle superstore, etc-would only have the new model in stock. you can always go to the dunlop site and get their contact info. and e-mail them for specifics. i am on my third rear and am getting around 20k from the tire.

Anything you get these days will be the newer generation and they work well. Heavier sidewall and good tread life - 15-20K easy.

I just put these on my Limited. Thought I would give them a try. Decision was made on reviews and Made in USA.

I decided to give them a try in WWW on my RKC.

Not many choices in 16" WWW.

Harley OEM 16" WWW way too expensive.

I have about 300 miles on them and they handle well.

Just posted on the other tire thread that I've now got 15,000 on my AE replacement tire with about another 5-7 thou left to go. I'm VERY happy with the tire-

I got 17,500 miles out of the rear tire on my StreetGlide and it still had 3/32 left. Great tire!

I may try these out. Was going to get the Michelin commander II. Motorcycle superstore would be $300 for the set after the $40 rebate.
