Default Question about Tall Boy Seat

All,

I am 6'4 and am looking into a Tall Boy seat. I picked up a used 09 FLHTC back in December and I believe the previous owner was "vertically challenged". I think the bike has a stock seat with the bracket underneath for the riders adjustable backrest. My question is will I have to remove the bracket to fit the Tall Boy seat?

I think the Tall Boy accepts the fixed backrest mount, but it doesn't leave enough room for the adjustable mounts. If you're wanting to keep the backrest, I think the fixed mounts are about $40.

There are 3 mounting positions for the non-adjustable seatback bracket. When I put the Tallboy on mine, I had to move the bracket back to the furthest position, but it works great there. Not sure if the adjustable bracket is the same.

The Tallboy steals the 2 inches it gives you from your passenger, so if you ride 2-up, that can be an issue. My wife is petite, so it's not a problem for her and I remove the seatback when she rides with me. (She's a better back rest anyway.)

Mine works fine,, but then I want the backrest at the furthest backward mounting position.

Default Suggest test-ride Tallboy seat before buy.

I'm also 6'3"/6'4" depending on which boots I'm in, and I've been thinking of getting Tallboy for my Softail FatBoy FLSTF for longer rides. BUT, when I tested sitting on a FatBoy with it at NY Bime Show (and the TallBoy mini-apes bars (16"?), it really changed the feel of a bike from an aggressive stance where you feel you can slide closer to tank on twisties, TO sort of a Highway laid back highway peg cruiser couch.

I bought the tallboy when I bought this new bike. Had only stocks before. My wife is not petite but we fit great on the new seat. Not only that, but for the first time riding, my legs never get cramped anymore. I'm 6'3" btw.

Thanks for the replies guys. I think I might go pull the stock seat off and check the backrest mount. I am not 100% sure it is the adjustable one now that I think about it.. Good info guys. I am getting ready to head to Myrtle Beach at the beginning of May for bike week and want to make sure I'm not all jacked up comfort wise for the 7 hour ride.

I waited three extra days for my Tall Boy seat before picking up this bike. Had it on the previous two bikes and yes it takes up 2' of the ole lady's space but she's a better back rest/rub/blinky/scratcher I could ever find. You won't be disappointed and oh yeah I'm 6'3 also.

I'm 6'2" (short for this thread but much of my height is in my legs) and have put about 25,000 on my bike since installing the Tallboy. With harleygoodie floorboard extensions and Heritage style bars for more pullback it is extremely comfortable for me. Not at all a reclining couch position but much more comfortable for my legs.

Default Guys. For Tallboy seat: > 32-34" inseam?

Not to get too much T.M.I., but I'm 6'3" with 33" inseam on Levis 501s, and 16.5" arms. In a suit, it's a 46 Long. (A bit puffy with 42" waist which may be pushing my fat **** forward!???)

a) How do you guys with Tallboy compare to that? I feel like I'm right on border of normal seat, as with "off the shelf golf clubs." :-)))
b) Did you change handlebars, or rotate them back, too?

Ride Tall... and safe !

:-)
