You need a new switch apparently.

Not the speaker switch. Your HU has suffered vibration damage, Over tine the sound will go out more often till one day it will not come back. I was flipping that speaker switch on my 08 for about a year. Your solution to your issue is Iron Cross Audio. Do some searches and you will find this is a common problem with the HK radios. When you have the outer fairing off check your fairing brackets. More than likely one if not both are busted(another known issue). This more likely than not caused the vibration damage to your radio.

Just had mine repaired, yes vibration issues within the HK radio. I had Iron Cross Audio do mine and while there had the backlighting changed also. Tony is the man on these type of repairs. I changed out the riser bolt on the handlebars while radio being repaired, he will talk you through this. Give em a call and you can be back to jamming.................

Why fix a piece of **** radio? Unless you use the CB or really use to weather band. I say just change it out for an after market head unit. Only take you an hour or so and your head aches are over.

If you have extended warranty the dealer will replace the head unit for your $50.00 deductable. Happened to me on a trip I thought it was the switch bought the $70.00 switch tuned out to not be the problem.

^^ this is what happened to me the past month on my 2008 Ultra. Radio was going in and out, then one day the windshield was vibrating at idle like never before. After doing reading, pulled the fairing and LHS (clutch side) bracket was cracked clean through at the top. New one was $70 at dealer. Upon further inspection, it looks like the RHS bracket was the 'newer' style (like one I purchased a few days back), the one that broke was a slightly different and less beefy design, hence the crack.

Regardless, after reading this post and radio with no sound, I pulled the radio from my 2012 and swapped it in and viola, I heard music.
Now just need a replacement radio for my 2012, will do some reading. Seems like that bracket has a ripple effect of damage under the fairing.
