Angry Help!!! with starter and jackshaft

removed inner to replace shifter shaft arm now starter will not engage all the time , if it doesnt I have to roll the bike back and forth to get the jackshaft to engage. What do I need to do to remedy this, any help would be appreciated

i put the coupling in with the long part towards the starter, didnt think to check the outer bushing though. Is that the right way for the bushing?

first check the wiring to the starter to make sure it is tight and clean, next I would loosen the starter a few turns of the bolts and see if you can move it a bit and retighten it....next I would check the battery to make sure it is charged and up to snuff....
