Default Would you consider buying a formerly rented bike?

Or, have you bought one before?

I'm seriously considering on trading in my 2013 Fatboy on a newer Electra Glide, and Eastside Harley in Bellevue has 15 late model 'fleet' EG units in stock and they want them gone yesterday. Apparently they break them in there before renting them out and of course all of them have been maintained there. I would insist on getting an extended warranty as well, and they are very interested in my FB.

Just curious if there are any members here with either great stories, or horror stories regarding buying a rental Harley of any type.

Here's the 3 we are most interested in:

2011 Limited

2012 Classic

2013 Limited

I would consider it if the price was right. I would definitely get the ESP though, like you mentioned.

I wouldn't have any problem with it. I have never bought a harley rental, but I buy most of my cars from rental fleets. Usually get a free extended warranty, low miles, and know that the rental companies keep up with maintenance, and a great price. I never had a problem with any cars I bought.

I thought about it before purchasing my Street Glide. I found a better deal with WAY lower miles. If its the best deal in around then jump on it. If its not a screamin deal... wait...
my 2 cents

Would never even consider it. Rentals like lease vehicles are used and abused by the majority.

Many people do, but based on how I've seen rental bikes leave the dealership driveway, not me. And I'm pretty sure that people riding them ride them like they don't own them, 'cause they don't!

If the price was right and depending on the miles that are on the bike.....yeah, I'd consider it.

It would need to be a smokin' deal. Those don't look like that to me. Might as well Buy a cop bike. You know those are abused. Its a crap shoot. Maybe you'll get lucky. A low mileage garage queen gets my vote.

can't say I've never flogged a rental,if they have really low milage means less flogging. you know shifting wide open,or the optional clutch, not to mention some brutal downshifting,it kinda makes me feel better knowing just how much abuse these bikes can take.
