Default New clutch/old clutch in Motor Training

We have six 2014 cop bikes and still have two of the "old" 2012's. For the past 2 days we've been re certifying all motor officers. I mostly rode an old one, but got some saddle time on the '14, and actually certified on the '14.

Everyone riding the '14's, myself included, was having some trouble getting used to the feel of the new hydraulic clutch. The friction zone is tougher to find and tougher to hold for a long time.

We all agreed that the new bikes are better for duty, better for just about everything...except cone work.

Have other motor officers been experiencing anything similar on the '14's?

I talked to my motor buddy a while ago and he said it took a little while for them to get used to the clutch on thier new '14's. It was a different feel than the '12's they had before. I haven't riden a '14 yet, so I can't compare it personally.

I'm sure we'll get used to it but there is a difference.

I am not a motor officer but it only took a short time for me to get use to the new clutch and now its no problem keeping it in the friction zone.

I don't doubt that. I couldn't tell much difference in normal riding.

I'm scheduled to get a '14 sometime around June. Right now I am still working on the '12. Aftr thatI guess I will have to reach out and let you know what my experience is. Putting on my areas re-cert next week so it looks I will make sure I enjoy the easy to work with and adjust cable clutch. Thanks for the post.

Do have a couple of questions. How is the new headlight to work with at night? Does the vent work? Did your department get the new Whelen whidshield array?
