Default 2014 Slip-Ons with Cat

I have a 2014 Road King completely stock. A close friend has offered me his 4" Rinehart Slip-ons (free).

If I do not remove the cat, will it sound any different than the stock mufflers ?

I would rather not waste time trying it if they are going to sound the same as the OEM cans.

My 2009 (without cat) sounded great with these same 4" Rineharts.

Anyone tried slip-on mufflers without any pipe modification ?

Yep. They will definitely sound different. From what I hear once the cat is removed they may be louder than with it in. I won't de-cat mine until the 1k service has been done.

I have a pair of American Customs coming Monday. Can't wait to hear the improved sound.

I don't want to de-cat or tune it at all... leaving it stock until it wears out. The free Rinehart was kind of tripping my trigger :-)

I would definitely take him up on that offer. What have you got to lose? Maybe an hour of your time to change them out. I put the 4" Screamin Eagle Street Cannons on mine with the cat installed and I think they sound great. I'm sure the Rineharts will sound great too! Go for it. You can always change it back to stock if you don't like them....

The Rinehart mufflers will sound a lot better than the stock mufflers, but removing the cat will make it even better.

Yep I have Rush 4" Big Louie's and there was a noticeable change to the sound after I gutted the kitty.

My 2012 RKC has 4" Rineharts with the cat in. I think they sound great. Very noticeable compared to the stock mufflers. My last bike an 09 Street Glide had no cat with 3 1/2" Rineharts and that was a bit louder than my current setup.

They will sound much better than the stock mufflers.
I started with the Rinehart 4" slip-ons using the factory head pipe (with cat) on my 2011.
I rode that way over a year and was happy.
They will be louder than the factory pipes, but not obnoxious.

I finally broke down and added the V&H Power Duals to my bike, keeping the Rinehart 4" slip-ons.
Now they really sound good!
