I looked at about every dang dyno run I could find on Woods and FM's site..... Might be better choices or combos out there, but I've smiling ever since I first twisted the throttle with these cams :-)
Yea. I even thought I saw a sheet that showed it. I think either cam is a winner. I'm very happy with the 555's as well.

Default To cam or not cam

New 1300 miles RGU with fuel moto stage 1 type air cleaner and screaming eagle pipes. Power Vision tuner. Im liking the change with these add ons and the bike pulls well, but I had a 103 with 255 cams on an 09 Road king and Im thinking about adding these to this bike - but is it worth the $.

I want/have to stay with harley cams because I have an extended warranty and will have them do it before 60 days from purchase is up - so they will be covered too.

Looking at the screaming eagle cams Im wondering about the 259 too. It looks like it comes on a little later than the 255 and stays on for higher RPM's

Im a big guy 290 lbs and I liked the torque from the 255's

oops meant to make this a new thread

I was surprised to see the torque curve on the 255. I would have thought it would have been much flatter from 2000 to 5000 rpm's.

Attached is a dyno from a 110 CVO. Look how flat the torque line is.

Wow, those are some high numbers!!! That CVO has the stock 255's in it? If so, that is impressive!! My base run pull was 100/82.... That 110 was 117/105 - seems like a lot if the only difference was 7ci. Do CVO 110's have higher compression than stock 103s??

This bike was tuned at the same dealer as mine. I have been told that their dyno gives you inflated numbers. My 103 according to them has 89HP and 103 TQ with the only changes on my bike being the head pipe and air filter. Anyway my point was the flatness of the TQ line more than the numbers.

255 cams are a great cam for baggers especially because it's considered a "grunt" cam. Tons of bottom end but it doesn't carry too far to the right, which is your top end. People get all caught up in the "this is better than that mentality" all too often. Biggest problem with this cam is you get all these tuners that have no clue how to tune them properly. Part of that tuning process is tuning out the heat. Bring that up to your Indy and if he looks at you stupidly, walk away and find another tuner.

that's a very happy dyno if no other work was done or one helluva tuner.

I agree. I have had both cams. Two different grinds, two different intents, so expected there will be two different end results. The problem is people bucket the end goals together. Both are leaps over stock, the question is where do you ride in the RPM curve and what is your goal.
