From talking with other riders, and from my own experience cam tensioner wear varies form one rider (or bike) to another.

My 2000 T/C 88 had about 39,000 (or so) miles on it when I had the tensioners replaced and still had miles left in them and I talked to one rider that owned a 2003 Fat Boy who had to have his engine rebuilt (factory) at 25,000 miles due to tensioner issues.

Some folks think you can get more miles out of the tensioners by using SYN3 motor oil.

We have a TC 88 and I will have the tensioners checked at 25,000 miles IF I ever get that many miles on it.

Ought to be a great bike with many miles in it. Had an '01 and put 65k trouble free miles on it. Put the latest part number cam chain tensioners on at about 20k and they were fine 2 checks later. 95" upgrade with Andrews 26 cam, .030 head gaskets and carb tune will really wake it up and still be dead nuts reliable.
