Single front brake questions
I am going to a single front brake on my 2007 flhtc. I have the new 9/16 master cylinder and brake line but I have questions. I have not been able to find answers for the 6 piston caliper and rotor size. First off a few manufacturers of these six piston calipers claim that they work with different size rotors. How is that possible for a caliper to work with a. 11.5 and a 13" rotor? Is there a great increase in stoping power going up to the 13" rotor? Is anyone out there running the 6 piston caliper with the 11.5 with good results? Can I run my stock size rotor with the PM 6 piston caliper then later down the road switch to the 13"? I also can't seem to find many manufacturers of the 13" rotors that fit my bike. I sure have not found any that are affordable.

I understand your concern and have done my research. I'm not trying to start a thread for a debate on why one should or shouldn't go this route. There are plenty of those out there and i just got done reading most of them. I know many think it is stupid but I'm not one of them. Single brake set ups have been run with much success for many many years. If I can squeeze them and lock them up with a single how much more stopping power do I need? The benefits are looks, reliability, and ease of cleaning and oh yeah and looks!

shoot we have ran single front setups on a lot of our track bikes , the 6 piston with the 13" rotor should get you stopped just fine..
The 13 provides more surface area ,which in return keeps things cooler under heavy braking situations (like a 900lb bike coming to a stop quickly)..
We have ran alot of the Brembo 4 pot gold line calipers , with the brake tech rotors and man let me tell you , the difference is Huge with just the brembo and rotor setup...

Some brands that make calipers make them in different versions, one version for small rotors, a similar version for large rotors, as simple as that! They look the same, except the mounting points are slightly different. When going to 6-pot calipers I chose the 13" rotors, so also bought the calipers to go with them. Two rotors are company, one is going to get lonely.......
