I bought a plate that bolts to the front left brake caliber for my base stickers. Here is one like I have from fleabay, might be what you are looking for.

Downstate or upstate? I had my sticker on one of those plates on my '06 Ultra, pulled over by a cop (busting bralls) on LI who told me plate was illegal. Also told by my indy shop when they inspected the bike that the plate was illegal..."easily removed" could be one bolt too, that's all that holds those plates on. Didn't really need the hassle so I just put it on the downtube now. Upstate might be a little more lenient...

Matt, just take hairdryer with you to Sovies and have at it. I know you want to have it look nice on your custom ride, but just offer to take it off yourself. I am sure that John won't mind. Just ask him.

Who's this? I didn't think anyone else was on here from way up north.

I'm in NY. I usually just put mine on the fork but my father put on one of those bolt on chrome plates and had a tiny tac weld put on at Indy dealer to make it part of the bike. He just touched up the weld with a dot of black paint. Stayed that way for years without a problem.

Illegal all the way, no doubt, but upstate is more lenient. My dealer used to say "if you get stopped, you put the sticker on it... wink wink" One of my riding buddies in NY was a licensed inspector for big rigs and he used to give me $hit all the time.

I'm not putting no damn sticker on my new chrome lowers!
Have not run a sticker in many years, I think 1981 was the last time I got one.
Let them fine me, I'm still way ahead in terms of cost.
