Default to cam or not to cam

New 1300 miles RGU with fuel moto stage 1 type air cleaner and screaming eagle pipes. Power Vision tuner. Im liking the change with these add ons and the bike pulls well, but I had a 103 with 255 cams on an 09 Road king and Im thinking about adding these to this bike - but is it worth the $.

I want/have to stay with harley cams because I have an extended warranty and will have them do it before 60 days from purchase is up - so they will be covered too.

Looking at the screaming eagle cams Im wondering about the 259 too. It looks like it comes on a little later than the 255 and stays on for higher RPM's

Im a big guy 290 lbs and I liked the torque from the 255's

The stock Harley cams are designed to reduce engine noise and exhaust emissions, to keep EPA happy, so IMHO if we are thinking of making mods to a bike, other than adding a bit more noise, then changes should start with the cams!

Cams are the basis of how the engine performs, and the root do the torque and power curve. You have to decide what you want. The right cam that matches your desires is wonderful, the wrong one and it will never work right for you.

My suggestion is to be very realistic about how you really do and will ride, and what you really will use the engine and bike as.

No downside to a good set of cams. Lot's of choices. Don't limit yourself to the SE cams. Better choices out there. Cam wont affect the warranty either. That's a dealer trying to box you into that belief. Contact Jamie at Fuel Moto and get his suggestion. He will also have a map for your PV tuner.

I'm guessing "new" means '14? If so 255s aren't much/any improvement over stock. If ya "have" to stay SE, 204s would be my/your only choice. They should be pretty good with extra compression in '14s.

Plus 1 on SE-204 cams, they are the most over looked of the Harley cams, also 211 cams
are over looked. The 211's work good with 10:0.1 compression on a 103.
