Trading in will cost me $2,200 to get out of the current loan, or I can install Progressive rear shocks, a front shield, and luggage rack out back plus a few more bits on the 'boy and keep it a couple more years.

Question is, will $1500 get me within spitting distance of how awesome the '14 King is (which I already test rode) or should I suck it up and go whole hog with the RK and its better motor (downside is breaking it in )

 

trade up never liked the fat boy model, it a POS compared to the king

 

Use the 1500 and put it towards the road king. If you spend 1500 on the fatboy, you will just lose more money on it. You could spend 5K on the fat boy and you will still end up getting the RK because you got the fever

 

Throwing money at the softail isn't gonna make it ride like a touring bike. If you like puttin' on lots of miles then just bite the bullet and make the switch. It may not handle quite as well as the FB but makes up for it in comfort.

 

GO ROAD KING,,LOL,,,it all depends on how much you can afford,,,just remember you will never get out what you put in with either bike,,so if you are going to get rid of the fat boy anyway,,keep the $1500 and put it toward the Road King,,,,and breaking it in won't take too long when your cruisin down the road in style....

 

Sorry it doesn't matter what you do to your FatBoy, it's still a Fatboy. Get a RK.

Dang, my 'boy is getting no respect here in the touring section...lol. But like Rooti said, there is a bit of RK fever being felt here on my end.
