I only have experience with the E3's. I have run them on my '04 EG Classic and they have given me excellent mileage. Presently I have 12,000 miles on the rear tire and it shows very little wear. I would venture a guess I'll get another 3-5,000 miles out of it, maybe a little more. I just took an E3 off the front, it had 34,000 miles on it. FYI.

I just ordered an AE, should have it by on Wednesday. $134.88 shipped from Denniskirk.com. I started over thinking this, and almost ordered a commander II instead, found them for $124.00.

The American Made and designed for Harley's is what sealed the deal. I am sure whatever I would have ordered would ride better than my worn out, flat in the middle e3. I got almost 3 years out of this tire, going to guess 16-17k miles, not too bad.

The new tire arrived yesterday, took the wheel off and had it swapped. I actually got a bonus, got a new free inner tube, they pinched mine, and gave me a freebee.

Now let me say, my e3 was pretty spent, it was down past the wear indicators and was worn flat (squared). I got nice milage out of the e3, so I think I got my $ worth.

Took the bike for a ride with the new tire, and WOW, feels like a different bike. I am sure what ever I put on would have felt great. Looking forward to see if this one goes further than the e3. These AE's have the dual compounds and are supposed to last longer and wear more evenly (no squared off effect)

Old thread, but bring threads from the back is always a good thing. AE are excellent tires. I just had them installed on my 13 SG. I got 21500 out of stock tires. AE grip EXCELLENT in turns, absorb bumps and feel like I have more leverage over the bike. It does feel a little more top heavy then the stock HD Dunlop tires though. So far I would by the AE again.

My 09 Ultra had Metzler 880 last year Indy store talked me into Dunlop AEs I have been very satisfied with AE s since the switch. It will soon be time for new tires and the Dunlop AE s will be my first choice. IMO the AE s hold up and ride better in twisties than the 880 s .

i ran american elite on my SG for about 6K before trading. i put a set on my RG about 3K ago and loving them. i went back ot them because the wear and grip was great on my SG, same results on the RG. for price there was not a real diff between them and the others

The American Elites are the same tire carcass as the Dunlop OEM 407F and 408 rear. Both are made in Buffalo, NY. For the OEM tires that go on new Harley Davidsons they stamp Harley Davidson on the sides whereas the American Elites (which are made exclusively for the after market) have American Elite stamped on the sidewalls. Each brand has their own tread sipes as well. Harley dealers do not sell American Elites, only the much higher priced OEM Harley branded tires.
I am on my third set of American Elites and so far I have not seen any "loss of life" or "serious injury" occur. Tread life is virtually the same for both tires. Lots of touring bikes get +20 thousand miles on the rear and +25 thousand on the fronts.
The more aggressive you ride. the more wear you will get. Duh!
