Some TW-222 details for the gearheads
#1
I just thought I'd share a bit of info on the Woods TW -222 cams from my install. This little card has some specs that tell a little more on the cams.
I'm real happy with the outcome. No dyno yet but I used a Fuel Moto base map and auto tuned with my power vision from there. I bought everything from FM for my bike. Power vision, FM high flow air filter, 2-1-2 FM header, and 3.5" jackpots were all added when I had about 1500 miles on my bike. Last month, with 17k miles on my bike, I put in the TW-222 cams, new inner cam bearings, Woods lifters, and FM pushrods.
The power increase is noticeable, from start all the way up....which is just north of 4500rpms for me. It is smooth even power that keeps pulling. It is not a monster build or crazy power, but a great running motor with nice power.
This was my first cam install and was pretty basic for me with all the correct tools. Taking out and pressing in the inner cam bearings was simple with the bearing tool. That was the part I was most concerned with but turned out to be cake!
I am fairly sure Andrews makes the Woods cams, but in any case they are top quality. I was shocked to see my stock cams had the lobes pressed on.

Installed the TW-222's myself on my 2012 RG, and couldn't have written up an assessment on how I feel about the outcome better than you did, OP. I agree completely.
I was hoping for more grunt on the bottom end, but with the unbelievably smooth "power band" that doesn't end until north of 4500 (as you stated), I am not at all disappointed. I consider it to be a very solid mild-medium performance cam (more on the medium end of the performance spectrum based on my limited experience), and it's proven to be perfect for touring loaded up with the wife on the back, and more than adequate riding solo.

I'm happy with the TW-222s as well. They are a super drop in cam for the 103.
As for the feel of the bike, I can't believe how hard this thing pulls for a "cam only" bike. It's very snappy around town and winds up FAST! It purrs out on the highway as well, as others have noted its an excellent cam for touring. It's a really fun ride.
I will also mention that the cam has PERFECT street maners. It doesn't buck, stutter, stall or exhibit any other bad street manners. I suspect this has a lot to do with the tuning and the low end cylinder pressure the cam makes. This cam is very livable for real world everyday use.
Here are my comments on the TW-222 a while back:
