Default Wiring an Aftermarket Fairing ?

After much debate I've decide to order the Reckless XL fairing for my RK.
To all that have wired an aftermarket fairing, were did you get your power from? The acc. switch plug under the seat? Directly to battery?
Did you run wires under the tank? Does fuel tank have to be removed to wire?
Just wondering how most folks have done it?
Thanks.

Unrelated to your question, but what the hell is the difference in the regular fairing and the XL?

I choose to run mine directly from the battery. The wire includes an inline fuse and I ran it underneath the center counsole. Quite an easy installation.

It's the larger fairing. 3" wider I think.

Ground and fused power from the battery. Switched from the ignition. You may find more details in my sig.

Ran my Deadcenter Fairing direct from the battery, fused and controlled by a relay activated by ignition switch. Functions just like an Ultra.

Subscribed!! I am definitely looking forward to seeing some pictures...

I had a chance to look at the Reckless Motorcycle Fairings, including the XL, during this past Leesburg (FL) Bike Fest. I saw them mounted in a couple of Road Kings too. I think they look great!!

I just did this last week on my RK. I went to the auto parts store and got some nice heavy 4 wire trailer wiring molded with a black sheath. I pulled the wire under the tank, up through the Adel clamp on the right side of the frame and looped behind the headlight. Brought the end up on the right side of the nacelle where the brake line goes down. I got a 4 wire weather pack connector set off ebay and put the end on right at the bars. I put the other end on my harness I made for my fleabay fairing. I wired constant hot and ground direct to battery with weather proof fuse on hot. I got my switched hot from tail light wire. I used the 4 conductor trailer wire with the intention of using the 4th wire for remote amp turn on at a later date. Simple CLEAN install and it takes about 3 seconds to pop the connector before removing the fairing. Wiring looks factory at the neck..... Just how I did it, might not be the best, but I am happy.
