Default Cleaning inside the fairing

I had my outer fairing off and noticed all the internal wiring and fairing was filthy/dirty. Does anyone know how safe it would be to use a cleaner/degreaser and hosing it all off? I want to give her a good detailing.

maybe just take a shop rag or some paper towels and clean her off with your own natural elbow grease. i do not recommend getting any cleaning fluids let alone any fluids near any internal fairing parts or wires. just some 2 cents!

I just blow it out with compressed air, I wouldn't recommend spraying any liquid in there.

I use my leaf blower, just at idle. That way if you have any water in your air tank you will not get anything wet.

A little water won't do any harm - just think what riding in a rainstorm might do! However no pressure washer or air. I would leave it to dry overnight, before buttoning back up.

Yeah a little bit of water won't hurt for cleaning purposes, (think spray bottle not hose) it's not like the fairings on these bikes are 100% watertight.

I used canned air (computer duster) last time I had mine apart. Next time I will do that and hit it with a damp rag to finish. Its not sealed and its gonna get dirty, long as the big stuff is blown out, no biggie. After all, who is gonna see it besides you?

I just changed my inner fairing and elected to use a damp rag, with soapy water. It turned out just fine, looks good and no troubles. Oh, by the way, remember to remove the main breaker before you begin, much safer.

Good size artist or 1 inch paint brush, gets in between wires and into corners to dust things off. I used "armour all" next on the bush not spraying it into the fairing to clean and shine (don't over do it and don't put it inside the connectors). Make sure your connectors are tight after. (saves taking the fairing off again and ask me how I know) Takes an hour or so to do properly but when finished looks brand new and you know every single wire and its condition as far as wearing or any potential problems. I found out my fairing support bracket was cracked and buy the ball headed allen to take the radio out ---- it's worth it.

Thanks for this post, I've never cleaned mine. Now I can show my friends I'm not as **** as they claim I am.
