Default Rear brake not working.

I'm leaking brake fluid where the switch for the brake light plugs in. Any help appreciated!

I'm sure someone with better info will jump in soon, but I seem to remember something about bad brake light switches a couple years ago.

As wenterkin said, there was a recall on 09 EGs regarding possible seal failures near the brake switch....check with your dealership if your ride is covered.

Anywho, from you describe, sounds like a seal has popped and needs replaced.

I did find a thread about a recall on the switch on 09-11 touring models.

Mine went up in smoke on video when I was supposed to be filming my new tail light that I installed on my 09 Road King.

so replace it- call the dealer with the VIN, maybe they'll cover it.

if the exhaust is aftermarket you may have a fight on your hands. ( the switch may give up under exposure to high heat- the stock switch could fail when subjected to the heat of a stock exhaust- especially with a catalytic converter)

if ABS the Digital Technician should be plugged in when bleeding. Some guys bleed their ABS bikes at home, but this takes some knowledge.

don't count on having a rear brake when the system is leaking like this

Going to the dealer today. Hopefully they have a switch in stock! I'm leaving Saturday for a week trip in the Smokey mountains.
