Question will over filling crankcase push dip stick out ?

I'm wondering if having over filled the crankcase would push the dip stick out? I changed the oil a week ago, and apparently put too much in. The engine is cold, and the oil mark is above the hot oil mark. I came back from a ride yesterday and the dip stick was out about 2 inches and oil everywhere. Couldn't find a crankcase vent or filter, so I thought maybe this is the reason. Comments ? BTW it's a 1998 FLHTCI

Yes, absolutely yes. I've proven this anomaly. I wasn't as lucky as you, my dipstick launched and was lost on the side of the road.

Crankcase vents are in the heads. Yes overfilling pushes the dipstick out. Get a turkey baster and suck that extra oil out.

Oh I can imagine. The newer bikes have a screw down cap so an overfilled crank case pushes the oil out the breather through the heads. Man talk about thinking you blew the motor. Oil and smoke everywhere.
