But most of the shirts I wear are for fishing, I would like a pullover motorcycle SPF shirt that has some padding on the elbos and shoulders and something to protect the neck against the sun. That would be perfect.

Manufactures are missing the boat here! I was told no more sun, wide brim hat and sunscreen at all times. I too have the "fishing shirts" for sun protection. (and went to a "flip-face" helmet.) With all the information out there now days about sun/cancer, you would think the motorcycle industry would come up something!

My first 8 years, I wore a FF. Last year I switched to a Bell 500. Over 85 degrees, it really is hot, increasing fatigue. I think it definitely increases your chance of crashing when you are fatigued and distracted by overheating.

Anybody recommend a 3/4 helmet with good venting, under $250?

A helmet definitely would be nice if you crash. But not crashing is even better.

Are you wearing it with the face shield, and having it closed? That's horribly hot and stuffy, in my experience. FWIW, I'd suggest trying it with the face shield removed and glasses or goggles for your eyes.

Bell 500 has no shield. But padding is a retro quilt, no mesh, so it gets hot.

Jeans, t-shirt, ankle high boots and 3/4 helmet. When I hit the road for a trip, chaps and textile coat. Downtown Sturgis, 90*+ with stop/go traffic, I have cargo shorts on..

That's how I ride with my FF helmet in cold or heat. The only time I use a visor is in the rain. I keep the visor up to keep the rain out of my eyes. I have been thinking about a flip up helmet so it would be easier to talk to other riders at stop lights.

I usually ride with my shield up, glasses on.

Jeeze sounds like crap. A modern helmet should have excellent ventilation, not sure about a 3/4 but I'd look at Shoei or Arai.
