2014 touring cb question
I had a 2010 harley and when I pushed the ptt to transmit on the cb, I could hear my own voice in the headset which was awesome as I could tell that I was talking loud enough.
I currently have a 2014 street glide special with a cb and now I cannot hear my own voice when I transmit. Is this normal for the 14s? Is there a setting or programming option to turn that feature on.

Yes, that's another electrical glitch the motor company should address. But then again, the CB setup on the 14's has a horrendous SWR setting and really doesn't reach much further than maybe a 100-200 feet. Pretty poor performance. A couple of tin cans tied together with string would work better. I certainly wouldn't waste the expense of adding a Harley CB to an Ultra or Street Glide.

When they did the latest update is when you could not hear yourself talk on the cb. Someone discovered that if you turn the cb off then back on you can hear yourself again when you transmit. It is a pain in the butt to have to do that every time you start it. Maybe that will be fixed in the next update?

Tuning (usually by shortening it) the antenna would be great except with the Harley antenna, there is no way to tune it. And I'm not paying the ransom that J&M asks for his stuff.

the stock "long whip" antennas can be shortened by loosening the allen set screw, removing the whip from the spring, and clipping the bottom with some dykes. Usually 1/16 or 1/8" at a time, then take another SWR reading. A second style of the base has 2 "rings" that tighten against each other, Tune this base by loosening them and running them either up or down, then tighten them back again. If you're using the "shorty" spiral antennas, they get trimmed from the top. Remove the cap at the top. Under it you'll see the loose end of the spiral wire...trim that and then push the end cap back down in place. There's plenty of You Tube videos showing the specifics.
