Yeah, keeping the fob in the trailer with the bike may not work. I hauled mine home from TN a month ago in a trailer with the fob in the tour pack...came home to a completely dead battery
Maybe I don't understand the system well enough, but what causes the drain with fob present?
I did the same thing last weekend. Trailered my 2014 FLHXS to the Adirondacks and battery was DOA. I thought I had the procedure correct, but was wrong.
Why the heck would the lights still flash with the FOB in the saddle bags?
I assume the new bikes have the same feature that mine has. Its call a Owners manual and it the back of it there is a wallet card with the instructions for dis arming the system with the PIN It also has the Instructions for putting the system in transport mode.
And on my 08 it say the system responds with 3 turn signal flashes.
Just my guess on battery drain with fob present is the computer wont go to sleep long as the fob is present.
Cars will do this if the fob is close enough or they leave their keys in car for a fairly long period. I may well be wrong on HD but cars I do know. hth
I have a 2014 Street glide, did not put it in transport mode and hauled it to florida. wouldn't start but it on the battery tender all night. Now all the light in the ferring are flashing and clicking and won't start. anyone have any suggestions?
Hell, what happened to the way we did it before and just disconnect the negative terminal on the battery to keep everything from going **** up? Takes about 5 more minutes but you wont look like a moron when you get there.

Put it on a real charger a tender will not charge a battery over night. It could take days with a tender.

No need to go to that much trouble just pull the maxi fuse while the ignition is turned on. This is especially important if you have the optional Harley siren. Because disconnecting the battery will cause the siren to go off. And if you are in a closed trailer you will be sorry.
