I'm lucky enough to have a pool and a boat and would much rather be using them now and save the bike for the other 9 months.
I agree. Here in Coastal Georgia it's just too damn hot & humid, & I'm not about to ride in shorts & flip-flops like the dumbasses you see around here & Florida. Years working in E.R.s & scrubbing acres of road rash convinced me to keep a layer between me & the road! I just ride the other 9 months & skip the summer months here. Luckily I can ride almost all winter.

Hydration vest under a mesh jacket plus I just bought one of those things you see advertised at lowes that you get wet wring and snap. I got the tube that you can slid over your head and wear it around your neck but I take it put it on my head under my helmet, Rode this way last weekend for 100 miles wasn't bad and it was 109 degrees. OH yea I wear jeans with boxers and make sure you monkey butt powder the boys.

Consider adding a heat shield there are dozen's of styles out there. These help deflect the heat from the pipes, which is the main source of that blistering heat rising up from the bike.

Thanks for all the input. I already have the riding, wicking Under Armour underwear. I'm going to try the lightweight Carharts.

What works best for me, is a thin Heat Wear **** Tee (You can see thru it) and jeans. Keep plenty of cool drinks with you. And when my Sweetie rides with me, I try to choose better routes without delays. Last year we went to a Peach Festival, and the stop and go was so bad, we turned around and went elsewhere. This year we took a longer, open ride around to it, sooo much better.
Lots of stop and go and sitting still on our bikes will get tough.
Wise choice of route is a plus, if you can.

I don't joy ride much during the summer here in lower AL, its too damn hot. But when I do I wear the wicking underwear, 511 pants and a thin long sleave fishing shirt.
I would rather hang out in the pool or on the river during the summer.
