Hot Weather Riding
#11
This time of year, I just don't care to ride very much. July, August, and Sept are just too damn hot. I'll ride all day when it's freezing. Heated gear and the right helmet and clothes make it feel good. In the heat, you just can't do a lot to keep cool. I'm lucky enough to have a pool and a boat and would much rather be using them now and save the bike for the other 9 months.

Hydration vest under a mesh jacket plus I just bought one of those things you see advertised at lowes that you get wet wring and snap. I got the tube that you can slid over your head and wear it around your neck but I take it put it on my head under my helmet, Rode this way last weekend for 100 miles wasn't bad and it was 109 degrees. OH yea I wear jeans with boxers and make sure you monkey butt powder the boys.

What works best for me, is a thin Heat Wear **** Tee (You can see thru it) and jeans. Keep plenty of cool drinks with you. And when my Sweetie rides with me, I try to choose better routes without delays. Last year we went to a Peach Festival, and the stop and go was so bad, we turned around and went elsewhere. This year we took a longer, open ride around to it, sooo much better.
Lots of stop and go and sitting still on our bikes will get tough.
Wise choice of route is a plus, if you can.
