Default Andrews 54 vs 57 ?

Can anyone compare how these two cams would compare to each other in a 103?

The 57 needs 10-1 compression,the 54 needs 10.5...........

I can't compare because I've never used the 57's. I have a 96 inch with 54's and loveum. The 54's make lots of power without the extra noise from the exhaust, and they ideal smoother than the stock cam's. With ported and polished 103 heads combo it went from 74 hp to 96 hp and 80 lb tq to 96 lb tq. The lower tq # is caused because of the heavy CT I have on the rear. My indy said should be around 105 or better with a MT. I was also able to use stock push rods and lifters. I have about 40,000 miles on them and they still perform great.

Stupid question here...what does "CT" and "MT" on the rear mean...is this a tire reference?

Thanks,

the 57 doesnt NEED anything. It was specifically designed for a STOCK 103 engine.. talk to andrews... they will tell you.

Now with that said - both of those cams will respond BETTER with higher compression however will work just fine and you'd be happy with them at STOCK compression.

While I'm running 54s, I think they are obsolete since 57s came out...

I just installed the 57's. pretty happy so far. Not as much down low as I thought (but I believe slightly better than stock) so its causing me to change my riding style to a little higher rpm zone. Not a bad thing cause they really pull pretty well above 2600-2700. I do notice that I have some very noticeable reversion below that rpm range and I have not yet decided if I'm going to try to deal with that or just let it be.
