On a re-fill, how much that NEEDS to go in depends on how much came out. If you used some of the tricks found on line to get a thorough drain you will need more than if you just casually drain and re-fill. The manual tells what "full" looks like and it suggests about 38 ounces so you have enough on hand. Fill to the proper level as per the manual, end of discussion. This is like, if your car manual says you have an 18 gallon fuel tank, you insist on pumping 18 gallons of fuel at every fuel stop no matter how much runs out on the drive as you pump.
Why would you take the chance, just put in the 38 oz. per the manual. The guys that are saying less than that is enough will be no where around when your primary is toast. This is the internet, don't believe everything you read here. But you can believe your manual.
Some of us may just know what we are talking about...
You can run the primary several freaking ounces low and it will hurt nothing, the sky will not fall, the clutch will not burn up, the bearings will not be toast.

With bike upright, check the level, it should just be up to the outside diameter of the outer clutch shell. Don`t overfill, but a little low won`t hurt a thing.
