Default new to Harleys and after a bit of advice

Hi all,
I've been a member on here for a while but for personal reasons havent been able to get a bike.. until now. I really like the RoadKing and have noticed there are two variations, one with leather bags and the other with hard bags(the one i like). Are they both just RoadKings? or is there a model name? As i say im new to Harleys, and just trying to make searching for ones to buy with hard bags,a little easier.
Thanks

Road King Classic comes with the leather bags.

Road King comes with hard bags.

Road King Custom comes with leather bags as well, they just look rounder.

You can mix and match them on the Road Kings. That's one of the fun things about the Road King.

Road King Classic (RKC) comes standard with spoke wheels and cruise. The Road King (RK) does not.

Buy the Road King with hard bags---you've already said you prefer it....I haven't seen a Classic (leather bags)in a dealership in a long time...if you want cruise, just add it. Come to think of it---I haven't even seen a Classic on the road in a while. Yep--some guys will hit me over the head and remind me that they still have this great bike and how great of a bike it is.........I'm just making an observation about what I see in my local area...away from the internet. My riding buddy has a Road King (hard bags) and I love it...so does he.

Your in the U.K. so things may be different there. They stopped selling the Classic model with the soft bags here in the U.S.in 2014. They only offer the Standard (hard bags) but there is a wheel option for wire wheels and whitewalls.
You would have to have a dealer check what Harley is doing in the U.K. for sure.
If your talking used (before 2014) there again in the U.S. you could pick the Classic with the wire wheels and soft bags or the Standard with the aluminum wheels and hard bags.

I would be looking at a used one, about 5years old. Think I read somewhere that the soft and hard bags use the same mounting hardware, is that correct?. So I guess if I can't find anything with hard bags and spoked wheels, I could always buy the RKC and some after market hard boxes, would want them in white as I'm thinking of going with a duo-glide paint scheme.

You should look for a Road King Classic and find a set of hard bags. Wheels are a lot more expensive than a set of bags.

Hmmm, maybe because they don't make the classic any more, just a thought.
