My kids always enjoyed riding with me as passengers when they were little, but I just took my first ride with my 19 year old last week. I made him go through the MSF course last fall. He's now riding my very first bike, an 1976 KZ400 that his grandfather rebuilt for him after he rode it for a couple years.

I bought my 16yr old a Heritage last summer. Since then we've racked up a little over 10,000 miles riding together. Still don't let him ride very much by himself. Not because he can't handle it, more of an over protective dad thing I guess. I believe I've got a life long riding buddy.

My daughter and I used to ride together, but she sold her bike when she got married. She had a Suzuki, one of those single cylinder 600cc (or something like that). She was a natural, she could ride as well as people I know that have been riding for 20 years or more. I was so disappointed when she decided to stop riding, but I totally understand. It was a lot of fun riding together, but it was time for other things in her life that were more important to her. Those are some of my best memories.

I never got the chance to ride with my dad as he died before I started riding street bikes. He bought me my first dirt **** at 10 years old and I was hooked. I ride with my brother now and that is some of the best bonding you could ask for. My son is 21 and has expressed interest in riding but at this point it's up to him to buy a bike if he truly wants to ride. Part of me is excited but part of me is fearful for him. Y'all know as well as I do every time you leave the house it could be your last ride with all these crazy drivers on the road.
