Default Non Ethanol Gas

A new racetrac gas station just opened near me and i noticed they have non ethanol gas. I have been putting the highest octain (93) in my bike since i purchased it. I am wondering if i should switch to the non ethanol (90) octain gas. What are the advantages ans disadvantages on non ethanol gas? I ride a 2006 fuel injected road glide.

You are fretting over nothing. All we have had for last 20+ years. And unless you WOT or dog it hard in the lower gears, your Harley will probably run fine on mid grade. Know mine does.

I asked my Indy the same question and he said that he would run NON-ETHANOL in it and if it needed, put some octane booster in it.

Now I'm sure others have opinions, that's just what my Indy told me and it has worked for me well.

I've been running it for over a year. All the reasons (problems) that convinced me to try it have all gone away, with the exception of availability

Ethanol does not produce as much power (energy) as gasoline, so E10 fuel cannot produce as much power (or fuel economy) as 100% gas. That's simple physics.

Ethanol and gas cannot form a chemical bond which is why E10 fuel is formulated to be used within 30-45 of blending. If it sits longer than that the light ends begin to evaporate, leaving behind residue in the form of gums and other debris that can clog injectors or carbs, making engines difficult to start or to run rough.

Ethanol is alcohol, so it will attract moisture, which we all know, is bad juju for your fuel. The magic elixir products that claim to remove water or make it burn are actually ---- more alcohol. Read the MSDS before you add stuff to your fuel. More alcohol simply degrades the fuel more. Again, physics.

If you can get 100% gas, do so; your bike will thank you and your cruising range will be maxxed. We can only get E10 here in Broward County (there are two pumps I know of with 100% gas, but both are far from where I ride).

The flashpoint of non-ethanol fuel is much lower.

Unless I'm on a road trip and can't find it, non-ethanol fuel is all I use. Been using it for the last several years.

Here's a really good article that explains how seedy politicians and lobbyists hoodwinked and saddled us with ethanol gas: Avoiding the Corn Con

Here's another site that tries to stay current with fuel outlets that offer real gasoline: Ethanol Free Gas Stations in the U.S. & Canada

I use the Pure Gas app.. I have a non-ethanol gas station a mile from the house and I plan ahead for long rides using the app. I have ran no ethanol through my bike. That being said I know plenty of people that run 10% ethanol gas all the time and have no issues.
