Default Cleaning Windshield on the Road

Taking off on a long trip Friday. Thought I would put this out to the touring experts on what they use to clean the windshield on trips. The bugs are really bad in North Dakota, Minnesota and Wisconsin where we will do most of our riding.

How do you clean your windshield?

A big can of Plexus and a microfiber cloth in the saddlebag.

I keep a spray bottle of Bugslide or Novus 1 and microfiber in the TourPak. Windshield solvent and squeegees at a gas station are murder on these.

Lay a wet towel on your shield at the end of the day for a few minutes. Softens the bugs/guts and makes cleaning easier.

Thanks for the input. Have the microfiber towel ready and do the wet towel thing at home. Doesn't work overly well (still have to scrub). Only have so much room in the saddlebags so will have to see if the Plexsus, Novus or Bugslide is a luxury or not.

Thanks

I carry a small spray bottle filled with Glass Plus (no ammonia in it), and some sheets of "VIVA" paper towels. No other kind. When the VIVA sheets are damp, they get just like soft cloth - no scratching. Of course, clean cloth (like flannel) works, too.

Novus 1 or "Kleenmaster Brillianize" works well, also.

I'll tell y'all a secret to removing bugs.

*looks over both shoulders*

*looks under counter... just to be sure nobody is listening*

Once you get your shield CLEAN. And I mean C>L>E>A>N>... Order some Cee Bailey's Rain Repellent Max, formulated for Motorcycle and Aircraft windshields.

Follow the directions on the bottle.

After that, I use Novus 1, and it is simple to get bugs off... I do re-coat with the Cee Bailey's after each cleaning, don't know if it's necessary, but it works.

You will never need a "wet towel" or "peroxide" again.

I also do the headlights and tail lights (all plastic) on my '14 RAM 1500....

I'll try to get a video... I've got baked on bugs from my trip to Corpus, and I've ridden EVERY day in the South Texas sun since.

If your staying in a motel, just take into the shower with you when you shower. Use the motel washcloth.
If camping use Spray Away from Costco and a micro fiber towel.

Most every motel I have ever stayed in will gladly give you a "cleaning" rag(s) if you ask.
