Default FLHRC Passenger Footboard Removal

I removed my passenger footboards because I don't find them particularly attractive and I'm not planning on ever having a passenger. As a matter of fact, I'll soon be adding a solo seat. After review through hd forums, I filled the holes with 5/16" plugs found at Lowe's, which do a great job of filling. It still seems like something is missing in that space, though. Does someone know of some trim or something to cover the frame brackets? I could put the boards back on and cover/replace with something that looks nice, but really don't want to do that since they'll never be used. I also like the cleaner look of primary without the left side board.

You could just put some Street Glide footpegs on instead. You'll just need the footpeg brackets to mount them on. You should be able to find them pretty easy from someone who installed floorboards on their Street Glide or Road Glide.

Can you show a pic of the plugs and package they came in to fill the holes?

I use SG pegs.

re your solo seat project- before ordering, pull your seat and make sure your fender is ok to be exposed. some get chewed up by seats and grit

I agree with replacing with the Streamliner pegs. That is what I did when I got my Road Glide. Once I get another set I bought from a forum member everything will be Streamliner as these will be used to replace the highway pegs that are currently on the bike.

Thanks, mkguitar. I hadn't thought of that. I'll definitely do that before ordering.

Roger That, here's are some pictures. Hope they come out, haven't posted before.

I have a '12 FLHR and ride solo 99.5% of the time. I struggled with that plugged hole look too. It looks like something is missing (I guess there is - the foot board :+). Anyway, I changed all my boards/pegs to the Streamliner theme. I have the Streamliner passenger pegs more for looks than function, although they certainly are functional.

Attached are a couple pics so you can get an idea of what they would look like on a Road King. I think they give the bike a more complete look without taking up much room.

Thanks, One-up. Definitely like that look better. Guess I'll have to go that route. With all the parts around, seems like somebody somewhere would make some trim or something, but I can't find any. Really like the looks of your bike. What solo and handlebars are you runnin?

You could always use chrome plugs.

any bright work would draw the eye to that area.

try not to sit in one place and stare at your bike- nobody else is.

unless you are building a show ( no go) bike, don't sweat the small stuff.
