I bought my 2014 SGS knowing invoice. I was comfortable with the deal I made.

I really don't think that is out of line.

Don't like it?
Open your own dealership and sell at whatever you like...

I know for a fact many businesses have a 30% markup, especially in consumer consumables, beer, pop, snacks, bread, meat....

Not criticizing... just sayin'

If there good was money to be made selling higher volume closer to invoice, don't you think a dealer would do it? My job when buying a bike is to shop around and get the best available deal. Its interesting to know what the dealer pays but in the end it really means nothing in the HD universe. If you wait until the right time of year around here, 3 grand under MSRP is not hard to negotiate unless its a model in short supply. That leaves them maybe $1500. Unless its a one man show working out of a tent, that isn't making anyone rich. The money is in service, clothes and parts.

Lets say they make a guy a deal on a bike a grand or two under MSRP and clear 2500. Then the guy buys $4500 in chrome at full retail that they charge him $900 to bolt on and sell him two $400 overpriced jackets for himself and the wife. Plus they charged him $400 set up to take it out of the crate and wipe the dust off. Chances are they did better than $2500 on all the trinkets and labor. A dealer can only get so many bikes every year so chances are if he undercuts everyone around he'll just be the dealer known for never having bikes after June.

30%, 40%....who cares? We keep paying it, so they'll keep marking them up that much. Whatever the market will bear.... Econ 101 right?

I showed this to my dealer when I was buying my 2012 and he advised it was pretty close to actual dealer cost.

No way will any dealer let a bike go for close to those prices. Most dealers have alot of overhead they have to cover.

They seem pretty reasonable to me.
