Default need new tires

Ok guys just returned from sturgis and need a new rear tire but may replace both. The question is should i put the stock dunlop back on served me for over 18,000 miles or do i go to michelin commander 2 or give metzler a try. I had seen where metzler had some trouble with rubber peelin. Opinions and miles ran would be appreciated

Only thing holds up for me is dunlop so been riding oem. (12 to 14k) on rear

Saw the new elite was coming out in the 180 16 size and 180 18. But no 170 17. Will try them when my size is out otherwise its stock

No good experience with metzler, short life (4k) on rear. Or avon (6k) on rear

Michelin looks good but no tire in my size

I just replace my E3's. I got 23k on the rear and swapped out the front with 20k just because.

My buddy has 880's they lasted 11k

I'll only run the E3 for this reason. And it rides like no other I have had. If you're coming off stock tires anything will be an improvement I just suggest the E3. From Experience.

Are the e3 that dual compound harder in the center softer on the sides? Ive seen the e3 is fairly popular as well. The stock tire has just impressed me makin it over 18k. The sturgis trip is what had done it in really runnin 90-110 most of the way on the flats just cupped the tire. So my thought was if it aint broke dont fix it. But im hearing these other tires are pretty good as well and just wanted to hear some pros and cons and what kind of mileage they get. Thanks for the input so far guys

the e3 is not a dual compound but the new ae11 is dual compound for the rear only.

The Am Elite II is the same compound as the 407T, it actually had the compound first & HD wanted the same advantage in 2014. The A E II has a better tread design & is also slightly more rounded with the outer edges with a little less tread depth to minimize cupping, I believe it is the best option & is AMERICAN made.
