Default Added to the driveway

well, I found a local deal that I couldn't pass up, the wife approved of the investment, and she said I deserved having a project. I dont know if she was lying, or just wanted something I could play with, but I won either way, so Ill go with it. haha

only paid $1500

'96 Electra Glide Po-Po Edition
24k miles. got extra set of stock bags and a carb rebuild kit also.

been sitting for about 5 years around Morgan City, La. So all the chrome is rusted, pitted and generally FUBAR.

1st order of business when I get home offshore is to rebuild the carbs and flush the tank. I was told it ran before it was parked, he just lost interest in it completely due to some family issues. after that, 2 new tires and ride it. i dont care how ugly she is, Ill ride it while the cosmetics are worked on.

For the tank rust flush, I did some reading and was debating the CLR and BB/Nuts method. Anyone have any experience with it?

Also, later on, I want to put a stereo and speakers in it. Any solid advice on best receiver and speakers to use? Being a bacon bike, theres nothing in it now, so I get to start fresh. If a better setup is more expensive, I'd rather do it now the first time.

Thanks for the help/advice/opinions everyone! keep the rubber down!

Seems like a good deal. Congrats on the new bike and the great wife!

Rather than having to re-chrome everything, you could black it out...

Awesome project! I'd be making that thing into a rat rod bagger!

Wicked deal! I never seem too fall into deals like that... Good luck with your project. I fixed up an old sportster over the winter and used CLR in the tank, but didn't use bb's or nuts, but the tank really wasn't that bad. Your best bet is to get it drained and see how it looks, then take it from there. I hope it fires right up for you! Are you going to redo the chrome, powder coat, or just keep the rat-rod look?

Very nice addition I'd say. Your Sporty might get a little jealous once the EG becomes ride-worthy.
