Default Heritage Saddle bags on a Fat Boy

What am I up against in putting a set of Heritage saddle bags on a FatBoy? I already have a different exhaust, Thunderheader, so that isn't a interference issue. I'm worried about the rear fender strut not being drilled etc for the mounting of the bags.

Thanks
Louie

Might want to post over in the Softail section...

But if there aren't holes there, a drill is always an option.

If you're afraid to drill it, bring it to me... I'll drill it!

You're up against the exhaust pipes (if stock - shotgun pipes) and the turn signals. Since you've already ruled the pipes out there's no issue with them. Fender struts are different too - so honestly this may not be straight forward (depending on model year).

Saddle bags don't attach to the frame. They attach to the fender supports. The fender supports are different part numbers on the Heritage versus the FatBoy. That's not to say they won't fit but it cannot be assumed that they will.

Thanks for all of the input, guess I'm just going to have to dive into this and be prepared to do some drilling if necessary.

Of course..the owner will have to dive into this and swap some heritage parts on his fatboy to make the other heritage parts work.

many Harley fenders have multiple applications and may have a number of extra holes in the fender, these are concealed by the fender struts.

he'll just have to piece it together and maybe do some drilling

Default Heritage Bags on a Fat Boy

I have a very custom 2003 Harley Fat Boy that I wanted to mount some Heritage bags on. I quickly discovered that there was not an easy way to do this without drilling or modifying my bike. So I designed a mounting system that allows the owner to easily add the Heritage bags by using my adapter brackets. The upper and lower brackets are CNC machined from aircraft grade aluminum and are attached using stainless steel hardware. This bracket system can be adapted to work with either the removable docking backrest, a fixed backrest or without a backrest. The photo shows a lower bracket also. Your lower bracket would be different depending on if you have the passenger foot pegs or floor boards. NOTE: The rear turn signals will need to be relocated and this system will not fit a bike with the stock exhaust. Pipes must be at or below rear axle. Please see attached.
