Software update problems
Tried updating software to the new version 1.18.1 but no matter what I do I keep getting the "corrupted or incompatible" error.
I have followed instructions, downloading file to desktop, then extracting to a thumb drive root directory on a (FAT 32 formatted) thumb drive 8GB or bigger.
No matter what I do I can't get it to work.
Any ideas why?

Make sure noting else is on the thumb drive. Dump all the files go re download from web site and start over.

Tried that
Tried redownloading from site.
Also had nothing else on thumb drive - I even formatted it - still no success...

I had no issues at all yesterday, maybe it's your thumbdrive. Thre were other files on mine too but made no difference, the bike recognized the update right away

Some thumb drives have hidden software on them for encryption or some other vendor specific thing. Although, formatting should fix that problem. I'd try a different thumb drive.
It does not have to be 8 gig. I use a 2 gig freebie one I got from a software vendor and it works perfectly.

I just go out to the Harley shop and borrow their latest SW update on a stick and plug it in. It always works when I use theirs.

You only want to copy and paste the 1st file that is downloaded to your usb drive and make sure radio is off and plug in usb drive then turn radio on. I just did mine today

Did you unzip the downloaded file and only place the extracted .iso on the flash drive ? That could be why.

Did the update today and had no problem. I moved the files from the folder downloaded to the flash drive, turned the radio on in the accessory position then plugged in the drive. It loaded perfectly. I did not upzip the files.
