Didn't really think about it much while I was riding...more so after I parked her.

Wonder though...would the rice void warranty?
My friend's '08 has it too.

If you use MOCO approved rice from your dealer, you should be fine.

Yes until the rice gets saturated.......then it has to dry. Even the desiccant bags that we use at work done last very long.

No rice is MOCO approved.
The Manual states Risotto is the only approved substitute.

The moisture may indicate it is getting aroused.
Time to get busy, and seize the moment.
If you wait till it dries on it's own, it's too late Bro...

the tach and speedo are sealed assemblies; how do you intend on inserting the rice?

The biggest question not asked so far is what type of rice? Is synthetic worth the cost or would I be better off with Uncle Ben's?

I read this thread hoping to find a meaningful solution to a similar problem I'm having. But after reading it, I still have a fogged up speedo, but now I can laugh about it.

Hate to say it, but these gauges aren't 100% airtight sealed so they will "acclimate" to exterior conditions. Even if you store in rice...the moisture will return. Depending on the air/moisture quality where you live, it occurs more/less often. Nothing to expend maint. hours on, or worry about.

I've considered drilling a small vent hole in the top that would be covered by the bezel the gauge is mounted in. Since the moisture rises until it hits the glass and recondenses, if it could rise and vent out, it might let the glass stay dry, or at least dry out. Dealing with this might be another winter project.

I cannot say mine ever dries out in the sun. Quite the opposite in fact, that all but guarantees my glass will have condensation on it. Only when it's cool and cloudy do I get condensation glass.
