I had the same problem at 700 miles - Right after picking up from my 1000 mile service and having a chrome front end kit and chrome 9 spoke mags put on. I was p!$$ed. I told the dealer about it and he insinuated that I was riding the brakes and heating them up to glaze the pads.I got them to replace the pads, under duress I might add. The problem was back within another hundred miles though (And I DO NOT RIDE THE BRAKES). THis time I rode home without touching the front brake. When I parked the bike I touched the front rotor and burned my finger!! I took it back to the dealer and told him my woos. He still stuck to his story that it was my riding, but replaced the rotors this time. I have since found a post on a HD service bulletin that the rotors should be put on backwards from their intended position (M-1192A). I have not been back to the dealer since the last service and the brakes are not squealing any more.
Is this applicable on the 07 year? I have some squeaking on my front break and was just curious.
Take a look at the part numbers and markings on the rotors. The factory should have switched the 07's before delivery. What you should see is the rotor marked "RIGHT" on the left side of the bike and the one marked "LEFT" on the right side of the bike. This was the HD fix for the squeeling brakes. It reverses the venting cutouts.
On the pre 07 bikes , the dealer would switch the rotors no charge to the customer.
