upsell
you want CB with that?
I am on my 2nd FLHTC, an 09, the other was a 1995.
no rear speakers- they'd get in the way of my Tbag.
no cb, I'd never use it, no intercom
Cruise became an available option- I have that
fairing lowers, I added
some badges.
the Classic could be a saving of 2 or 3 thousand over the Ultra.
The FLHX was based on common owner mods to the FLHT Standard. HD deleted that model to drive sales upward.
The STD was stripped model, no radio, no tourpak, plain aluminum motor...and about $5K less expensive than the Ultra.
HD saw the touring bikes were being used more in town by younger riders rather than strictly by geezers on the interstates as the Ultra had
The roadking was based on owner mods to the FLHS
the superglide was based on common owner mods to the FL, adding an XL front end.
Harley follows the trends and responds where they can make a sale, as a shareholder I like that.
Some of us were around when total production numbers were about 25,000 units and there was a 2 year wait list for a new model.
production is now near 10 times that and has been as high as 420,000 units ( 2003*- a 15 month model year to take advantage of 100th anniversary marketing driven fever)

...... that "saving of 2 or 3 thousand" is lost profit for the MoCo.
...... Street Glide becomes the new 'entry level' batwing & pricing goes up from that 'enhanced' price point.
...... the Std & Classic were completely different trim levels from the UC & LTD
