I could have wrote the OP's opening post with just a little variation. I had decided the Super Tourer was what I wanted being I'm 6'2". Not to mention the HD standard back rest is hard for me take on and off since me and Arthur have become such good friends. The cost however is ridiculous!! IMHO. I think they would sell more seats and more than make up the difference if they were less expensive. I just don't see $600 - $700 in a some vinyl, foam and plastic....I guess we are paying for their "know how".

Now, however, I'm thinking, I know where there is an old McCellan saddle...........subscribed.

This is either fate or just dumb luck but a guy just posted a Mustang Super Tour for sale at a good price. Took about a second for me to buy it. Guess I'll be finding out shortly how comfortable this seat is.

I have a new super touring seat. I'm 6' with a 32" inseam. I have stock handle bars on my EG and although I feel cramped (legs) with the stock seat, the super tourer moves me back too much and I have to reach for the bars which causes shoulder pain.
I noticed the seat had a slight hump in the seating area so I called mustang and sent them a couple pictures. They said there was too much glue applied to the seat when it was being built. They asked me to mail it to them at their expense for installation of a new cover. I asked them if they could modify the seat while they had it apart, maybe move the riding position 1/2" forward. They said they would do it for me. Great service. I should get the seat back sometime this week.

I've got a HD Tallboy seat that I've tried. I love the seat position for my legs, but you are correct. Another set of bars are a must for maximum comfort.

I agree, bars and seat go together. I have tried both the tour and super tour. The super tour moves me back just enough to stretch out a little (6-2 34" inseam) but then needed the taller bars on the Ultra and now Heritage bars on the Road King. The Mustangs do wear a little better than stock and does take at least 1k to get them comfortable. I find a backrest is a must for my back for even short rides of 100 miles or so. The super tour does require a mustang back rest and I don't find them as adjustable as the HD adjustable backrest.

You could also have a company like Mean City or another seat company do a custom seat for you.

Seats and bars and tough to get right the first time unfortunately but that does put some on the used market for us.

Sorry about that, I edited the post. The super touring sets you back 1 3/4".

One thing about that is if it doesn't work for you the most you will be out is the shipping (and maybe not all of that depending on the price you bought it for) if you don't like it because that seat is popular enough to re-sell easily. You've already gotten one offer in the next post!
