Default Air temperature gauge question for the experts

Does anyone know what type of sensor the air temp gauge uses? Is it a thermocouple, Type J, K, or is it an RTD?
Muchos Gracias amigos and chicas!

Thermocouple, as used in the HVAC and appliance fields, is a small device that when the end bulb is heated, generates millivolts, and is used as a safety device...wouldn't be a thermocouple...might be some form of bi-metal, never cogitated about it...

It's a thermistor, but you would have to measure resistance vs temperature at 50°F then 100°F (per example) to know of which type it is.

I think it is a type "POS" ;-)

If anyone sells a replacement that's accurate and looks similar to stock, lemme know.

I'm not an expert, but I can tell you where it's mounted on an '07 Ultra it could never accurately reflect ambient temp. It's under the batwing next to the speaker. Here's a photo. I replaced mine with an oil temp indicator.

Same bike I've got, always seems 5-10 degrees high, but hard to tell with a scale that's not designed for legibility, especially while in motion.

Mine is accurate first thing in the morning. When I start it up in the shed....it is DEAD on!
Park it in the shade....and if a Bank sign says 87 degrees....the Harley gage says 100.
Park it under a shade tree, listen to a radio station weather forecast that says temp is 90.....Harley says 100. So, if I want to know what temp it is, I stop and look at my cell phone weather app. I know HOT and I know cool.......I don't usually need temp down to a degree.

Thanks for all the responses.
I was just curious; don't really need an or temperature gauge, just looking for something to fill up the hole.
