Don Tilley killed in motorcycle accident
#21
I live here in NC not too far from where Don lost his life. I have been on that section of the Blue Ridge Parkway many times. There are two curves that come up on you quickly. I don't know what happened but the loss of Don is a big loss to the motorcycle world. What a great guy. I bought my FLHTK from Don last August in Statesville and he had first class dealerships. Remember his wife Robinette as she is in Mission Hospital in Asheville and his family in prayer please. Let us all remember that each day is a gift from above. Ride safe and enjoy the ride.

I met him a little more than a decade ago when I got my endorsement. I started hanging at his shop and fantasizing about owning a Harley. I told him that I want to have one before turning 40.
I even went to his shop with my mother. He teased her about riding on the back of a bike and letting her hair blow in the wind. She heard about it last night and called me up.
I'm just shocked that this happened. But I will be at the ride.

I bought my Ultra Limited at Tilley's in March. At that time Mr. Tilley was on his second 2014 Limited. His first one, which I assume he got in August, already had 40,000 miles. He led the Kyle Petty Victory Junction Ride across the US. Most people on the ride shipped their bikes to AZ but Don rode his. He took the time to personally show me his bike collection and motor shop. A true biker and motor head.
