Full Use of the HD CB with Any BT Headset

Another way to connect to the HD's audio system is via a 12-pin Deutsch plug (part numbers listed in circuit diagram) that connects to the bike's Audio Overlay harness at a plug under the tank. This method of connecting is out-of-sight, very elegant.

Yep, it's proprietary; no off-the-shelf plugs available. I cut the cable/plug off one of the 2 mics (1 shown in your picture) that come with the Sena helmet clamp. Then, solder the wires of the cut end of the mic cable to the appropriate place on the board. These wires are 2; a white insulated wire (signal) and an uninsulated shield (ground).

Smh10 mod
I decided I didn't like the SENA proprietary mic and wired up a radio shack 1/8" female mono cable in its place right onto the SMH10 clamp (See images below). 1/8" mono male cables will be what I run to my saddle bags so I have the options of doing something like a flush mount using audio couplers etc. Thoughts?

I'm sorry, I've read the entire thread and I'm a bit confused. An SMH10 is a headset mounted to the helmet with the microphone and speakers. An SM10 is a BT transmitter that has an adapter cable plugged into the 7 pin HD connecter. It seems to me you said a few times that the SMH10 was the transmitter. If I don't care much for the CB (though I do have it) an just want to hear HD's radio in my helmet and maybe answer the rare phone call I may receive while riding can I use the SM10 transmitter with my existing SHM5 headset? I assume my phone would be paired with the HD and my SHM5 would be paired with the SM10.
