I just went back to a Road King after riding a Softail for 18 months. First thing I noticed (remembered), the RK shakes at idle. Also, took a few minutes to get used to throttle by wire. Life is good! Ride safe.

You now have a radio, just kidding. Get out and ride, get use to the weight diffidence in slow riding mode.

Went from a 2011 FXDC to a 2014 road king. Found the road king easier to handle at low speed and much more stable and smooth on the highway. You're gonna love it!

Ride the heck out of it to get comfy with it. When you get back, plug it into a battery tender, crack a beer, and mess around with the infotainment system. Also buy an air pump for the shocks (if it's a standard) and get the pressure tweaked. The crappy weather will be here soon enough, leave the winter for other mods after you get some miles on it and decide what you want vs. need. Congratulations!

I did the fatbob to roadglide switch. Here it is

1. Get yourself some rain gear if ya don't already. I never did because I didn't have anywhere to put them.

2. Get some good rear shocks and the glide can hang with the best of them.

3. Plan a long trip, I broke my glide in riding from Texas to maryland.

4. Upgrade the stereo!

I went from a 12 Fat Bob to a 14 Street Glide Special in April. I think the SGS handles a bit better except at slow speeds on uneven/gravel/dirt parking lots where I notice the extra weight. One thing I found after some longer trips is that the bars are a bit more of a reach for me and I find myself leaning forward. Probably will change out the bars over the winter.
