Default Has anyone swapped SG fairing for RG

A friend is contemplating on switching his SG fairing to a sharknose RG. Has anyone ever done this and how difficult or involved was the process? Hes thinking if he can swap out and sell old fairing setup to offset cost its a done deal.

it can and has been done. i was going to do it with my SG but i ended up buying a RG fairing and it came w/ a free motorcycle lol. i have a parts list for the conversion in email if needed i got it from a member on her that did hisred CVO SG conversion to RG. i think when i priced most of it out it was less than $2K for all new parts without shopping around and doing my own labor. sure it can be done for less though.

I've actually been thinking about doing this to my '14 Limited. Can I ask for a copy of the parts list? May not be completely correct for mine but will at least give me an idea.

Thanks

There is a link in my signature with my build/conversion. It's pretty detailed.

The conversion is not one that's challenging. If you can go so far as to remove the inner fairing of a batwing, installing the Road Glide front end is pretty easy.

Everything is completely bolt on...

You know doing this has never made much sense to me because there so many bikes out there for sale. But I can see the logic of doing it to the 14 because there isn't a RG Ultra.

Thanks for the posts and links.
It makes sense if you have money invested in bike that you might not get back on a trade.

I think it is a great idea especially if you got a lot of money in the motor and other extras. It cost a lot to switch bikes ,taxes ,registration fees and etc. You always lose something when you trade in .I am surprised more guys are not doing .

Hummm, it sounds like meeting, dating, then marrying a beautiful woman, then waking up one day and beating her face in with a shovel, just cause its cheaper than divorcing her. Just sayin'.
