Is bigger always better ?
I keep reading about upgrades and bigger motors. Some are already complaining about the power of the 103" and 110" motors not being enough. Others have ponied up and swapped in the 120R.
How much is too much ?
Perhaps 410 cubic inches and 523 ft. lbs of torque might be just that.
Take a look.

all depends on what you want to do. personally the 103 & 110 in stock form are turds. i have spent many miles on both... with a simple stage 1 its amazing the increase on a 103, cant speak for 110.
i have done the stage 1 to all my harleys until my RG, i installed stage and and then added 570 gear drive cams. gave me even more power and i think it perfect balance of power/fuel economy/ reliability for what i need it for. i dont have plans on dropping thousands on a motor build but to each their own.

Yep, the OL always says bigger IS better!
But seriously, I think it's a preference thing. I was happy with my basically stock 96 'til I rode a basically stock 103. I noticed a HUGE difference and LIKED it. IMO, "not better" can happen when you do mods to bigger motors. I have a buddy with a completely worked S&S 124 and it seems like he's broken down all the time. Of course, he beats the **** out of it & has to stop for fuel every 100 miles, but literally 1/3 of the times we ride together, he ends up breaking down. IDK if that's typical, though.
Anyway, I guess it's all in what you want and can afford. I'm not a power hound so, I'm fine with the 96. But the next bike will have something bigger.

Silly question, bigger is always better and status quo is never enough. I'm thankful to GM for adding more hp each time they introduce a new model corvette. I will admit that I was basically satisfied with my stock 09 SG until I test rode a Honda F6B. It was then I started a thread on the 120R.

I liked my 120r in my 09 but that engine was kinda borderline for easy use everyday. It idled just fine but ya never knew, it felt like it might fall on it's face if you didn't pay attention to what you where doing with the clutch in tight spots.
This new 103? I'll see. Seems doggy in the rpms but feels real nice at 2k roll-on. She might need some uncorking.

I have pushed the envelope many times on different motors. You have to very careful to take advice from a stranger, especially an online stranger. What may be perfectly acceptable to 1 person as far as quirks in having a big motor, may be totally unacceptable to you. Heat, pinging on marginal fuel , never having any parts in stock, etc. are all things that can and usually change when going bigger than stock. As long as a guy knows whats up and makes an informed decision then he should be fairly happy as long as the build goes well, which is another whole ball of wax, LOL
