Since the ESP is a Harley factory warranty plan, I don't really understand how each dealer seems to be able to write their own deal for the coverage. Having said that, it cost me $1200 for the 4 year plan I purchased about 6 months ago.
Mine was for 5 yrs at that same price. They are actually a third party insurance policy that they sell you. Mine has a clause that if I don't use it after 5yrs I get a total refund. I think they invest it and collect the interest for themselves.

The ESP and extended warranties in general are very profitable sales add on items for dealers. Some dealers are willing to make less profit on the ESP than others. You don't have to buy the ESP from the dealer where you bought your Trike if you want to shop for a better price.
$2000 for my used sig bike, which had 17K miles on it when I bought it. Since then the warranty has more than paid for itself with 3 claims which would have amounted to about $3500. I now have 31K miles on it, and so far it has cost me only $150.
Second trike never had extended warranty , I am too cheap. But I am thinking about getting it on 2015, are we talking $ 1500.00 for 1 year since it comes with 2 year factory warranty.

In my case it was a 3 yr. plan for $1500. I have warranty coverage until May next year so I am glad now I held off.
