Default Paint Spatter Everywhere!

DAMN!

Went to lean the bike for a Patriot Guard Mission tomorrow. As soon as I started, I found paint spatter everyhere (faring, winshield, chrome, fenders, lights, etc). Basically anywhere the wind could get to was covered.

I tried to clean gently clean it off but no luck. Can't even get it off the headlight.

I filed an insurance claim though I'm not sure this is covered.

Try a little WD40 on a clean rag. If that doesn't take it off real easy, I suggest a professional detailer.

Overspray from house paint?

No idea where it came from. I always keep it clean. The last time out was 30 Oct and I want to downtown Dayton for a PGR mission then north to the Harley dealer and back home; 90% freeway. I know it wasn't there before that trip so I was caught up in something.

Tried WD40 and goof off.... Guess I'll wait to see if its covered under insurance and go from there.

On a positive note, I did get the 12VDC power installed in the tour pack.

I'm almost certain that a professional detailer can handle it.

I'd be calling the local PD and asking if anyone else reported this. You can not be the only victim. Somebody is responsible and needs to pay!

When on the freeway did you pass some bridge painting? Some years back I found a couple big pain globs on the fairing of my 06 Ultra, I remembered one of the bridges I passed under was being painted at the time. Sure enough that is where it came from. I went back the next day and they gave me some numbers to call. I took it to the dealer who managed to get the paint off and didn't charge me.

Did you happen to go through a construction zone where they were cutting the concrete? Had that happen on my '12.

Took alot of elbow grease to get it off.

Don't forget to check your helmet, gloves, boots... all your riding gear for the same damage.

Were you displaying any flags during the mission? May want to check them also.

Totally is a horrible thing but as said, a detail guy should be able to get most of it off the paint and chrome. The plastic stuff may be more difficult to clean.

Had this happen to a company car once. DOT was painting road lane lines and I passed in the opposite direction. Wind came up and hit the car with a good over spray. Since I saw it I circled the block and waited on them to come to me, flagged them down. State DOT lawyer told me it was an Act of God so they wouldn't be responsible for damages.

That lane paint dries almost immediately and is tough as nails to remove so I took the car to a paint/body shop. Was good as new for a few hundred bucks.

I can't believe Goof-Off didn't take it off. Since it didn't, I'll go along with the rest of the guys and urge you to have a professional do it. Otherwise, you could end up needing a complete new clearcoat.
