Why in the world didn't HD hinge the gas cover in the front instead of the back of the trike? Couldn't any of the designers or engineers figure out that hinging the cover to the front would make refueling that much easier? It would be up and out of the way of the nozzle. I will never understand their logic.

 

I know what you mean, when I fuel I have to turn my front wheel to the right to be able to get the nozzle in.

 

I remember reading something a bunch of years ago that it was a safety related issue. If you had a front collision and the cover popped open, your body would lay it back down rather than being forced against the cover opening from the front...??

 

That could be true.
In my case I have 2" tank lifts plus a heavy after market cover.
I mean heavy.

 

The gas door is my one pet peeve about the TG... I wish they'd have put the (traditional) individual screw caps on each tank. The thing hinged the wrong way, the stupid lock that busted twice (Stranded at gas station with no way to get gas into the @#$!@!@! thing!) before I wised up and bought the push button non-locking clasp... Ugh!

 

ZD good reminder for me to change out that locking cap for the push button one.

I agree with the front hinge versus the rear but if that is the only complaint I have about my Trike, I can live with it. The good far outweighs the bad.

 

I agree my post might sound a bit picky. It just continues to bug me on every fill up.

 

Well you could buy a Road King tank and have it painted. Put flush mount gauges on and just not have anything plugged up to the fuel gauge side. There are ways around anything.
