electric shifting

The long throw on the elect. solenoid makes hitting neutral using it, almost impossible, there for the shift lever standing up at 12:00 makes it a lot easier to reach over the tank with my right hand, and jerk it up into neutral when I want to back up, or start the trike without having to hold the clutch in.
Looks a little funny but then so do I.

I've never had any problems with mine, wet or dry, it has been completely reliable.
Of coarse I wont ride anymore if it looks like bad weather, did enough of that when I was young and dumb. Now that I'm old and dumber, I pretty much only ride when the weather is nice and warm and sunny.
But, I do wash the trike and sometimes do use a pressure washer on it. Never had a problem with the shifter even after just washing it.

My amputation is below the knee so I can still position the pros. foot, on the stock floor board and haven't had much of a problem keeping it there.
I have seen some aftermarket heel and toe rails/guards that you can mount to the underside of the floorboards, that would really help to keep your foot in place if you are having trouble with that.
I don't recall where I saw them, or who offers them. But if you do a little searching on the net, I'm sure you can find something that will do the job for you.
Without a knee to be able to swing the leg forward or back while sitting, I can see where keeping it in position, especially at high speed, could be a real problem.
Good luck,

You will ride again, along with a lot of other things you may not think you can do!
Never give up, it's just another challenge.
After having rode on two wheels since I was six years old, mini bikes, tote goats, scooters, dirt bikes, four different street bikes, and 15 different Harleys in the last 54 years, I can truly say that even tho I do miss the two wheelers, I am having a ball riding my trike.
After all, I started out on a trike, looks like I'll end it that way too.
